The "window cleaners" and child-beggars that were charging drivers to use certain lanes at the Otay – San Ysidro Port of Entry have been removed from the area by the Tijuana Police force, said the city's mayor Jorge Astiazarán Orci.

"Actually, we had a police operation in the area and those individuals were removed from there", said Astiazarán just a few days after a video was posted on social media showing how these people were taking money from drivers to let them go ahead.

He also said that the areas nearby are under constant surveillance, removing homeless people that prowl around the place, adding that the "window cleaner" case is an infrequent thing.

"I will appreciate that drivers report these people's activities so that we can act immediately in the future", he finished.
