TIJUANA.- As a way to tighten the relationship that will help strengthen the economical development through employment and the European's capital investment in the city, Mayor Dr. Jorge Astiazarán Orcí held a meeting in Mexico with Finland's Ambassador, Anne Lammila.
During the meeting, Tijuana's Mayor established that city's government wishes to amplify its relationship with countries from the European continent, given that the city -for its border condition- offers great advantages and benefits.
"Our location gives us access to different products and services, since we are a border region and we have nearby seaports. Tijuana is the cradle to several clusters such as electronics, airspace, automobiles and above all medical devices, of which the city is the number one producer of clinical items in all Mexico; we believe that this potential can be used by Finland," added Astiazarán.
On her behalf, Ambassador Anne Lammila pointed out the interest in the Finnish Government to promote economy in our region, through the installation of several manufacturing companies in there border.
"This exchange between Mexico and Finland isn't just of tourism character, it's also commercial, given that at the moment there are approximately 37 companies of Finnish capital operating in the country. And it's all thanks to what we've seen and heard about Tijuana, which is why several entrepreneurs are interested in setting base in the city," mentioned the diplomat.
Also during the meeting, it was agreed that the development of public policies to promote the installation of Finnish companies in Tijuana will have as purpose the creation of reliable and quality employment sources.
