Tijuana City Hall has shuttered a local business operating as a veterinary clinic and feed store for the illegal sale of puppies, part of an ongoing crackdown on animal abuse and unregulated commercial activities.

The intervention, led by the Municipal Inspection and Verification Directorate, resulted in the rescue of two French Bulldog puppies being sold illegally at the establishment, named “Los Potrillos” in the Buena Vista neighborhood.

Officials confirmed the business was operating without the required official documentation, leading to its immediate closure. In addition to veterinary services, the location also functioned as an animal feed store that also sold several pet products.

The city announced the enforcement action through a social media post, reaffirming its dedication to animal welfare:

“We reaffirm our commitment to the well-being, care, and defense of animals. We are pushing firm actions to prevent abuse, regulate commercial activities, and promote a culture of respect for all species.”

Regarding this matter, the head of the department, José Antonio Olivas Heredia, emphasized the importance of maintaining active surveillance to eradicate practices that undermine the integrity of animals.

“Within our scope of authority, we will not allow illegal sales or abuse in any of its forms. Our commitment is to act firmly on every report and reinforce operations,” he stated.

As such, the closure of “Los Potrillos” underscores the Tijuana City Hall’s pledge to maintain active surveillance and take decisive action against businesses that violate animal welfare regulations.
