Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz of Tijuana has been named among the top 10 municipal leaders in Mexico in the latest CE Research ranking. The survey focuses on municipalities with populations exceeding 600,000 and evaluates citizen satisfaction across several categories, including public safety, lighting, waste collection, road conditions, potable water access, park maintenance, and perceptions of corruption in local agencies.


Mayor Burgueño Earns National Recognition for Tijuana
Published on Tuesday, the results place Burgueño in 10th place across the country, with a 61% approval rating. His name appears alongside mayors from important cities such as Aguascalientes, Monterrey, Puebla, Querétaro, and Mérida.
Topping the list is Felipe Fernando Macías of Querétaro with a 75% approval rating, followed by Cecilia Patrón Laviada of Mérida (73%), and Alessandra Rojo de la Vega of the Cuauhtémoc borough in Mexico City (67%).

Recent Achievements Improve Daily Life in Tijuana
Mayor Burgueño has launched several key initiatives that are already making a difference. One major improvement is the 24-hour operation of the Fast Lane at San Ysidro, which began on May 12 and now runs every day of the week, ensuring a smoother travel across the border.
Another milestone is his strong anti-corruption stance. Burgueño reaffirmed his administration’s anti-corruption policy during the “Tijuana Transformada” forum, announcing zero tolerance for misconduct among public officials. He also launched the “Tijuana, Ciudad Limpia” program, aiming to create a more organized, modern, and livable city.
