The Tijuana government has launched a security and surveillance operation to protect public and private schools during the December holiday period. The initiative will remain in place through January 12, 2026, aiming to safeguard school facilities ahead of the return to classes.
The operation involves coordinated efforts between the local Department of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPCM) and on-site security personnel from the schools themselves.

Miguel Alfredo Nuño García, city Minister of Public Education, emphasized the collaborative nature of the patrols. He also urged residents living near school grounds and the broader community to assist by reporting any suspicious activity or threats to school property via the 911 emergency line.

In total, the measure benefits 3,921 students and 390 teachers and administrative staff across 10 elementary schools, three middle schools, and the “Manuel Gómez Morín” Municipal High School.
Mayor Ismael Burgueño’s administration reaffirmed its commitment to educational safety, pledging to maintain secure learning environments throughout the year, including during extended vacation periods.
