During today's morning commute in the city, a route taxi was heading to Agua Caliente Boulevard from Las Americas, when it caught on fire. No one was injured, but the fire consumed the entire public transit unit.

The driver and taxi owner, Pablo Marquez, told the local newspaper Frontera that the fire was the result of a transmission oil leak so the entire engine quickly got caught on fire.

The Tijuana Fire Department responded to the report and completely extinguished the flames which also reached billboards.

The latest reports indicate that the taxi was traveling with passengers and they got out the unit before the fire spread throughout the vehicle so nobody got injured.
