Bringing greater visibility to technological advancements and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and industry, the two-day AI Summit Tijuana: Frontera Futura will explore AI applications across business processes.
Tijuana as the Hub for AI Innovation
Organized by the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial (CCE), this marks the first major AI-focused summit in Mexico. The event will feature over 10 speakers, more than six specialized workshops with practical case studies, and opportunities to network with business leaders, explore new technologies, and learn how to implement AI in various sectors.
CCE President Robetto Lyle Fritch announced that the summit will take place Tuesday, November 4, and Wednesday, November 5, at the Real Inn Tijuana, starting at 9 a.m. Admission is free, though space is limited.
While the event will attract numerous business leaders and industry professionals, Lyle emphasized the importance of including universities:
“Today, in Mexico, only about 20% of universities have adopted AI programs. AI should be promoted from primary and secondary schools through higher education. The government needs to implement public policies and invest in digital technology in schools to foster AI education from an early age.”

Bridging Businesses, Industries, and Academia
Ignacio Chilet, director of PICTOR, highlighted that the summit will provide a platform for companies, industries, and universities to expand their knowledge and application of AI technologies:
“It’s really valuable that AI is receiving the attention it deserves in a time of rapid change. There’s a lot of uncertainty about the future, and this conference helps guide businesses on how to adopt these new technologies. While AI is new and sometimes surprising, it’s crucial for companies to stay competitive.”
Exploring AI Applications Across Sectors
The two-day event will cover a range of topics to help businesses implement AI effectively, ensuring it enhances productivity rather than creating uncertainty. One focus will be linking AI to industrial processes, moving beyond trends to measurable improvements in efficiency.

The first day will provide an overview of AI, its origins, relevant sectors, and strategies for integrating it into business operations while minimizing resistance. The second day will focus on sector-specific applications, including healthcare and security, as well as emerging topics like quantum computing, post-quantum security, hardware innovations, and new security standards. Experts will offer talks detailing AI’s benefits for productivity across multiple industries.
Tijuana Businesses Seek Greater AI Integration
According to Lyle, pre-event registration revealed that around 45% of companies lack a defined AI strategy, 40% have no implementation roadmap, and 30% do not have specialized staff. However, 71% aim to increase efficiency through AI, and 55% hope to reduce costs, underscoring the CCE’s goal of boosting national competitiveness.
Tijuana was chosen as the summit location due to its strong industrial base, which accounts for 53% of the city’s GDP. The summit’s workshops and conferences will provide the tools to apply AI in logistics, customs, and other operational processes.
Initial registration allowed for 400 participants, but demand led to an expanded capacity of 600 attendees. Those interested in attending the AI Summit Tijuana: Frontera Futura can register at fronterafutura.ai.
