Tijuana’s Department of Culture has partnered with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) to host the city’s first-ever Law and Legal Studies Book Fair. Organized by UNAM’s Institute of Legal Research, the event will take place from September 1 to 5 at the institute’s local facilities.

Secretary of Culture Illya Guadalupe Sánchez highlighted that the fair will feature the photo exhibition Tijuana Under Construction: Architecture of Memory, showcasing more than 40 images from the Alejandro Lugo and Jaime Ortega collection, which is also part of the Tijuana Historical Archive.

“It is an honor for us to collaborate with UNAM. We are convinced that culture is a central, cross-cutting force in Tijuana. I want to reiterate our commitment to continuing interinstitutional collaboration, and I am very excited about the exhibition we will organize, and hopefully remain with you even after the fair concludes,” Guadalupe Sánchez stated.

Juan Vega Gómez, Head of UNAM’s Northwest Station of the Institute of Legal Research, noted that the fair’s academic program brings together publishers, authors, law schools, and library networks. Over the course of the week, attendees will have access to 20 activities, including 11 specialized book presentations and five panel discussions featuring law school deans and authors, with a focus on legal issues in the Northern border region.
