The elevated viaduct that will connect Tijuana’s airport with Playas de Tijuana is now in its final construction phase, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda said Monday.
During her morning press conference, she noted that if weather conditions cooperate, the project could be completed as early as December.
She added that it is still uncertain whether President Claudia Sheinbaum will preside over the inauguration, though the state government hopes she will.

Progress on Several Fronts
Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, head of the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development and Territorial Reorganization (Sidurt), said construction continues to move forward on multiple fronts, including the airport area, the Zapata Canyon segment, and the access point to Playas de Tijuana.
He explained that installation of nearly all the beams is now complete, crews are working on the concrete driving deck, and asphalt is set to follow. Work is also underway on public lighting, and drainage and potable water systems have already been installed.

Espinoza added that if weather allows, the stretch from Matadero Canyon to Aldrete Street should show significant progress by December, with work there nearing completion.
Overall, he said, the viaduct is fully laid out and 98 percent of the beams have been installed, with only the final concrete work remaining.
