Tijuana’s most promising young talents were celebrated this week as the Municipal Institute for Youth (Imjuv) presented the annual Municipal Youth Prize. The awards recognize exceptional contributions in fields ranging from science and entrepreneurship to environmental advocacy and the arts.

In a ceremony held at the Ámbar Recreational Center, city officials honored dozens of young residents for their dedication to Tijuana’s development. The prizes are designed not only as recognition but as tangible support for future endeavors and provide them with real tools to continue their personal and professional growth.

This year’s awards also featured the provision of financial grants to help winners advance their work. The incentives were distributed across two age categories:

  • Category A (12-17 years): 5,000 pesos per recipient
  • Category B (18-29 years): 10,000 pesos per recipient

“These resources are intended to strengthen their projects and initiatives in areas like innovation, social work, culture, sports, and community participation,” Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado, Secretary of Humanistic Development, explained.

Youth Efforts Recognized

Christian Sebastián Ponce Hernández, director of Imjuv, underscored that this award not only honors young people’s efforts but also boosts their ability to transform their surroundings and represents a direct investment in their future.

“Every young person recognized today is an inspiring voice and an example that Tijuana has immense potential. Our commitment is to continue supporting them, promoting their projects, and generating opportunities that allow them to grow with certainty and confidence,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by councilwoman Mónica Padilla and other municipal authorities, who collectively affirmed the city’s commitment to fostering its young leaders.
