Denise stated that “El Lugar de Nos” has that name because Chef Manzano wants to maintain a philosophy that whoever works there feels as if they are part of the entire project, so that they give their best effort when carrying out all their tasks and with every person.
The first thing that Scott noticed when he saw the taco is that it was a “cheffy” taco, i.e., it had a very artistic presentation that is not found in just any taqueria. This dish was created by Denise and Mariela and has a cheese crust, a beef simmered tongue, and slaw on top.
When he tried it, Koenig said that it was “transcendent taco” due to the combination of flavors; a slight spiciness from the serrano peppers and the burned sauce at the bottom of the plate which is prepared with charred peppers and the secret recipe. To accompany this dish, they tried a drink made out of passionfruit, mezcal and a bit of chamoy with chili. Scott liked it so much due to its flavor, the cooking, the vegetables, and the perfect meat seasoning that he decided to name it “Taco of the Year” even though this took place at the end of April.
