Tourism Tianguis 2025 Ends on a High Note in Baja California

As the 2025 Tianguis Turístico came to a close, Baja California stood out with recognitions and record attendance.

As the final day of 2025 Tianguis Turístico (Tourism Tianguis) unfolded, the 32 participating states bade farewell to the country’s most anticipated tourism event of the year. With a blend of joy and nostalgia, day four at the Baja California Center was filled with activities, honors, and heartfelt moments. For Baja California, the event was nothing short of a celebration of milestones and achievements.

From early morning, the convention center in Playas de Rosarito came alive with energy and unforgettable scenes. Highlights included the product innovation awards, where Baja California stood out, the presentation of the event’s final results, and a crowning moment: a Guinness World Record awarded to the host state.

Baja California Recognized as a Premier Destination for Romance

A proud moment for the state came during the morning’s awards for tourism product innovation. Various states were honored for their unique offerings: Nayarit for wellness tourism, Zacatecas for cultural experiences, Sinaloa for its promotion of sports tourism, and Baja California for standing out as a leading destination for romance travel.

The award went to Dovinto Vinícola Destino, located in Valle de San Vicente, Ensenada. This area, known for its rich winemaking tradition and stunning landscapes, provides a romantic, sustainable experience,perfect for couples seeking a getaway.

Trophies Crafted by Single Mothers in Taxco

Speaking with San Diego Red, award designer Delia González, originally from Taxco, Guerrero, shared the inspiration behind the stunning trophies given to each winning state.

“Taxco is a place where you breathe art and silver,” she said. “What matters most to me is ensuring Mexican craftsmanship thrives. We have incredible artisans, and I’ve made it my mission to help preserve their work.”

Each award stands on a hand-carved onyx base symbolizing the strength of Mexico’s tourism. Rising from it is a “V” for “voyage”, adorned with elements representing the pillars of the Tianguis: sports, nature, beauty, and gastronomy. The top features the event logo, surrounded by radiant stones placed one by one by single mothers from Taxco.

A Landmark in Tourism Promotion and International Connections

This year’s Tianguis exceeded expectations, helping to firmly position Baja California as a top travel destination. According to final figures, the event had:

  • 71,882 business meetings
  • 1,773 buyers
  • 1,187 participating companies
  • 50% of meetings ending in sales agreements
  • 3,957 exhibitors
  • $1.38 billion pesos in economic impact for Baja California
  • 46 countries represented
  • 8,781 daily attendees
  • 307 national and international media outlets
  • 42% of buyers from the U.S. and Canada

Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez Zamora shared these results and highlighted the event’s success:

“This Tianguis is the most successful in terms of digital engagement, reaching 64 million accounts. Thanks to all of you, operators and attendees, we also saw the longest schedule of cultural, gastronomic, and commercial activities, and the highest hotel stays across all states.”

Adding to the excitement, Baja California earned a Guinness World Record for “Most attendees at a tourism marketplace in a single day,” with 7,395 registered visitors between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 29, doubling the previous record of 3,000.

Tacos, music, and more: The celebration continues

The festivities are not over yet. Tijuana will host two final events that promise to delight both locals and visitors.

On Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) will present El Gran Taco de México ( The Great Mexican Taco), a festival celebrating one of the nation’s most beloved dishes. Enjoy tacos from across the country, live music, and great entertainment in this free event.

To top it all off, on Saturday, May 3 at 5 p.m., Avenida Revolución will host the Concert for Peace featuring the Baja California Symphony Orchestra and NORTEC. This free family-friendly event will celebrate regional unity and cultural diversity, marking a grand finale for Tianguis Turístico 2025 and leaving lasting memories for all who took part.
