Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc., based in Portland, Oregon, has announced a recall of certain frozen chicken fried rice products sold under the Trader Joe’s brand due to possible glass contamination.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) detailed that the affected products include:

  • 1.53 kg (3.37 lb) cardboard packages containing six bags of AJINOMOTO Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice with “Best Before” dates from September 26, 2025, to November 26, 2025.
  • 20 oz (1 lb 4 oz) plastic bags of Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with stir-fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat, and eggs, with “Best Before” dates from September 8, 2025, to November 17, 2025.

The products were made between September 8 and November 17, 2025, and distributed to Trader Joe’s stores nationwide, with some exported to Canada. The FSIS notes that the affected products carry the number P-18356 inside the USDA inspection seal.

The recall comes after the company reported receiving four consumer complaints of glass found in the product. At this time, no injuries have been confirmed.

The FSIS warns that some of these products may still be in store freezers or in consumers’ homes. Anyone who purchased the items should not eat them and should either dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.
