Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the governor of Baja California, revealed that in 2023 key road projects will be strengthened in order to move forward with the state’s mobility goals. These actions will have a direct impact on the quality of life of residents, decreasing traveling times in inner city areas.

As such, Marina del Pilar supervised progress of the Casa Blanca – Corredor Tijuana Rosarito 2000 bridge and the restoration project at Calzada Lombardo Toledano, between Boulevards Gómez Morín and Héctor Terán Terán in the city of Mexicali.

Marina del Pilar explained that the bridge located at Corredor 2000 in the eastern zone of Tijuana will revitalize urban life in the metropolitan area that this municipality shares with Tecate and Playas de Rosarito, benefitting thousands of drivers who use this road daily.

This project’s conclusion is scheduled for the last months of 2023, including the construction of the bridge, installation of the retaining walls, traffic lights, horizontal and vertical signs, a public lighting system, and green areas in the median strip.

Meanwhile on her tour through the restoration of Calzada Lombardo Toledano between Boulevards Gómez Morín and Héctor Terán Terán, the governor explained that these are 3.1 kilometers of road, which cover an area of more than 35,000 square meters. It will benefit more than 100,000 people who travel daily on this street, located in a central area of Mexicali.

With an investment of 10 million pesos, asphalt pavement will be strengthened, hydric infrastructure of the area will be improved, and vertical and horizontal signs will be placed, significantly decreasing traveling times and increasing security for all drivers who use this street.

Currently, Calzada Lombardo Toledano has an asphalt layer in bad conditions and lacks signs, which causes mechanical damages in citizens’ vehicles, as well as important delays for people trying to get to their homes, schools, or jobs. This will be corrected by the project plan by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Ecology (SIDURT).

The head of the agency, Arturo Espinoza Jaramillo, stated that, additionally, 29.6 million pesos are being invested to restore more than 111,000 square meters, which will strengthen mobility and improve the city’s image significantly.
