President Donald Trump publicly praised Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum following what he described as a “very productive” phone call between the two leaders, calling her a “wonderful and highly intelligent” leader.
According to Trump, the conversation was positive for both countries and focused on key bilateral issues, including border security, drug trafficking and trade. He said the discussion underscored continued cooperation between the U.S. and Mexico on matters central to their shared agenda.
Trump added that dialogue between the two governments will continue, with additional conversations planned in the near future. He also said both sides are considering in-person meetings, either in the United States or Mexico, as coordination between their teams moves forward.
“I had a very productive telephone conversation with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico,” Trump wrote. “It went well for both countries. Much of it was focused on the border, stopping drug trafficking, and trade. We will be speaking again, soon, and ultimately, setting up meetings in our respective countries. Mexico has a wonderful and highly intelligent leader. They should be very happy about that!”
Trump shared the comments on his social media platform, Truth Social, where he reiterated his praise for Sheinbaum’s leadership and said Mexico should feel confident with her at the helm.
