Following the U.S. attack on Iran, the Department of Defense has tightened security at military installations across the country, including in San Diego.
The offensive, carried out Saturday, was led in part by the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, which is based in San Diego.

In response, security protocols have been strengthened at military bases nationwide, as well as at ports of entry.

Heightened security measures
According to social media posts from Naval Base San Diego, the new measures include full identification checks for everyone entering the installation and the temporary suspension of the Trusted Traveler Program.

Under that program, Department of Defense affiliates were allowed to vouch for passengers in their vehicles to grant them access to base facilities.
Now, all unauthorized visitors must report to the installation’s Visitor Control Center to request entry.

Naval Base Coronado also issued alerts warning of possible traffic delays at all base entry points due to the increased security measures.
Officials are urging drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling to and from the installations.
