LOS ANGELS – United States Men’s National Team head coach Jurgan Klinsmann has made several changes to the Gold Cup roster for the knockout stage of the tournament. Klinsmann has sent home Herculez Gomez, Oguchi Onyewu, Corey Ashe, and Jack McInemey; joing the USMNT will be Matt Besler, Omar Gonzalez, Alan Gordon, and Eddie Johnson.

Two of these changes were due to injuries; Onyewu suffered a sprained ankle during the USMNT’s 4-1 win over Cuba in the second game of the group stage. Herculez Gomez on the other hand is still feeling the effects of a knee injury that he has been carrying. He will now rest and try to get to match fitness as quickly as possible for the Tijuana Xolos.

Los Angles Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez is one of the four players called up to join the USMNT squad for the knockout phase of the Gold Cup, but he will not joinn the team until the semifinals round if they can get past El Salvador in the quarterfinals round.

The Mexican-America defender will play in his club’s MLS game on Saturday night when the Los Angles Galaxy faces the Vancouver Whitecaps at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, CA. He will then travel to join the USMNT squad.

The USMNT will play against El Salvador on Sunday in the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore at 4:00PM local time (1:00PM pacific).
