Playas de Rosarito saw a surge in tourism and restaurant activity over Valentine’s weekend, reinforcing the holiday as one of the most important for the city’s tourism industry.

Restaurants reported strong demand and nearly full bookings, reflecting careful planning by diners. Octavio Machado Sánchez, president of CANIRAC Rosarito, said the sector experienced an estimated 18% to 25% growth compared with last year. He also noted that 47% of Mexican diners celebrate the holiday at restaurants, primarily with partner-focused experiences, giving a significant boost to the local economy.

The hotel industry also saw impressive results. César Rivera, president of the Rosarito Hotel and Motel Association, reported that Saturday occupancy reached 100%, up from 91% last year. Officials attributed the growth to a combination of Valentine’s Day, favorable weather, and targeted tourism promotion strategies.

Paul Corona, president of COTUCO Rosarito, highlighted the impact of campaigns like “Welcome to Rosarito: Sabores que Enamoran,” which showcase the city’s culinary and tourism offerings. He also thanked CANIRAC Rosarito for collaborating on the initiative, noting its positive effect on visitor numbers.

These results confirm a strong upward trend for Rosarito’s tourism sector, strengthening its reputation as a prime destination for dining, relaxation, and romantic getaways year-round. The city continues to solidify its place as one of Baja California’s most popular destinations.
