A recent incident at Knott’s Berry Farm has raised concerns among visitors about the safety of storage compartments in theme parks.
According to an account shared on Reddit, a visitor and his girlfriend experienced a distressing moment after riding the Silver Bullet roller coaster, located in the Ghost Town section of the park. Upon returning to the storage station after the ride, they discovered that the bag they had left in an unlocked compartment—which contained a phone, wallet, and car keys—had gone missing.
Fortunately, thanks to quickly locking the phone via iCloud and the cooperation of security staff, they were able to track the bag to a food stand near Calico River Rapids.
An employee at the stand reported that a young child had turned in the bag. While the phone and keys were still inside, the cash and credit cards had been stolen. So far, Knott’s Berry Farm has not issued a statement regarding the incident.

Several users in the Reddit thread shared similar experiences of thefts—ranging from drinks to personal valuables—and urged the park to consider implementing more secure storage options, such as lockers with keys or combinations.
Although Knott’s Berry Farm offers rental lockers at the entrance, many visitors choose to use the free compartments near each attraction, despite their lack of security. For this reason, the park shares the following recommendations:
- Use zippered pockets or invest in travel belts to securely carry essential items.
- Do not rely on storage compartments to safeguard valuables like phones, wallets, keys, or IDs.
- Know how to lock and track your phone using tools like iCloud or Google’s “Find My Device.”
- Immediately report any theft and ask security staff for help locating lost devices.
