Gueorgui Trapeznikov, President of the International Academy of the Union of World Nations, announced this morning that the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is nominated for the Nobel Peace prize. This award would be given to him because of his actions to pacify the conflict in Syria, which has prevented a world war.
Beslan Kobajija, vice president of the Nobel Prize committee says: "Vladimir Putin did everything possible to find a peaceful solution to the Syrian conflict. With his example he shows is commitment to world peace, not just with words, but with actions", the nomination letter was received this passed September 20th, 4 days after it was sent.
In a press conference, Trapeznikov mentioned that "We all know the peacekeeping role our president has taken in areas with high conflict". This public support was joined by other Russian opinion leaders, like the singer Iosif Kobzon, who declared that "Barack Obama is the man who started and approved the aggressive action on behalf of the U.S. like Iraq and Afghanistan, and now he wants to invade Syria. Despite of all this, he has the Nobel Peace Prize".
Putin took charge of proposing an agreement between Syria and the international community so that the nation surrendered it's arsenal of chemical weapons and it submitted itself to international control standards. This way, Putin was able to avoid an international conflict between the nations that blame the Syrian government for the chemical attacks on it's population, and those that hold the Syrian rebels responsible for these attacks.
