Gangi, a Sicilian village located in Italy, is giving away houses. No, it's not a joke, this initiative is part of a campaign that is looking to renew the town's life and attract more tourist. The village can be found just a few feet from the Etna volcano, its population is of approximately 7,000 citizens.

Many of the village's houses are in ruins, so it seem to be that foreign investments are Gangi's only option. The city posted a letter on their webpage that read: "We inform all Italian and European citizens that in the town of Gangi you can find houses free of charge for anyone who wants to claim them." In the same matter, the message goes out to companies, in order for them to use them as the please.

You probably wondering how, right? Because, nobody gives a house away just because. Well, in this case all you have to do is:

Present a housing scheme (less than a year)
Take said scheme into action (maximum 3 years)
Pay property transference expenses

Other towns such as Salemi, Sicilia, Carrea Ligure and Alessandria have also followed this initiative, selling house for as low as 1 euro.
