The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued a public health warning against “Magic Mushroom” products sold under the brand TRE House. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of illegal synthetic psychedelics in several of the company’s edible items, including gummies, chocolate bars, and syrups. According to CDPH, these substances can cause serious adverse effects, including severe illness, hospitalization, or even death.
Testing revealed multiple prohibited compounds, including an analog of psilocin (a schedule I controlled substance) as well as 4-acetoxy-DET and 4-acetoxy-DMT.

Risk to Children
Health officials emphasized the danger these products pose to minors. Packaged and marketed like ordinary candy or syrup, the items could easily be mistaken for harmless snacks by children or teenagers.
Misuse, overconsumption, or interaction with other medications especially without medical supervision also pose a risk.
While no poisonings have been reported so far, the department cautioned that individuals using these products for supposed therapeutic benefits may still face significant health risks.
An active investigation is underway targeting TRE House, based in Chatsworth, California, as well as its third-party manufacturers. The products had been sold under labels such as “Magic Mushroom Microdose Blend” and “Proprietary Nootropic Mushroom Blend,” misleading customers who may have believed they were purchasing legal wellness supplements.

What Should Consumers Do
The products were distributed widely across California and may have been sold in other states.
The CDPH urges anyone who experiences adverse effects after consuming these items to seek immediate medical care.
Individuals who encounter these products for sale are asked to report them to the CDPH complaint line at 1-800-495-3232 or file a report online through the department’s Food and Drug Division.
