BRAZIL – Fidel Martinez, Joshua Abrego, and Pablo Aguilar all spoke to Fox Sports after the match and mentioned the fact that they were proud to wear the Xoloitzcuitles jersey in the most important club competition in the America were they were so close to the semifinals.
The Ecuadorian Fidel Martinez seem sad, like he couldn't believe what was going on. But in spite of that he maintained maturity in his declarations.
"(I feel) Sad, we wasted a lot of opportunities in front of goal, but the team never gave up and that makes me proud. Hope we have another chance at this soon" said Martinez.
Joshua Abrego praised the effort done by his teammates who fought hard against all the 30,000 people against them.
"The team went out attacking, this is a group of men who showed true character when all 30,000 people were against us. We couldn't take advantage of our opportunities and now we are eliminated, we say goodbye to the Cup with our dignity intact" mentioned Abrego.
And finally Pablo Aguilar mentioned how proud he was to belong to the Xolos institution during this Libertadores adventure and that the team demonstrated that they could compete with anyone at the highest level.
"Proud of this team. We knew we could compete, there were a lot of people who doubted us, but we proofed them wrong" concluded Aguilar.
