With the results of last weekend in the latest soccer tournament, Tijuana may or may not be in the playoffs.
The team will arrive to the last date of the tournament on the sixth position with 27 points, followed by Pachuca with 25 points and Cruz Azul and Jaguares tied in the eighth position with 24 points.
Unlike their rivals, Xolos depend on themselves to classify and will have the advantage of playing the last date at their home, Caliente Stadium.
The red and black team will welcome UNAMs Pumas Sunday at noon and by that time they will know the results of the games of Pachuca and Jaguares. The only remaining game will be the classic between Cruz Azul and America.
With a tie or a victory Xolos are in the playoffs without mattering what the other teams do. If they lose, they should hope that Jaguares, Cruz Azul and Pachuca dont win either because the spot in the playoffs will be defined by the goals each team made during the tournament.
The team directed by Antonio Mohamed could climb until the fifth position and depending on the other scores; Tijuana could face Morelia, Tigres, Santos or America. For that to happen, Xolos need that Monterrey gets defeated by Atlante.
On any of those scenarios, Xolos would begin the playoff series in home and define as visitors a pass to the semifinals.
Xoloitzcuintles are the team with the biggest chances of classifying to the playoffs even if the fans have to wait a week to know if their team will earn their first time in playoffs since becoming part of the main soccer league in Mexico.
