According to the information platform Forbes Mexico, Actual president, Armando Bojórquez shared that if the restrictions between the Mexico-U.S. border are lifted, millions of Mexicans would travel by land, especially in the border states and will take advantage to vaccinate their families.
This, of course, if non-essential travel resumes the following June 21. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) informed this May 18 that: "Restrictions to non-essential land crossings through the southern border will be maintained until 23:59 hours on June 21, 2021".
They also communicated that Mexico and the United States are in discussions to relax restrictions on border crossings based on the rates of spread of #COVID19 and the number of vaccines applied on both sides of the border as of June 22.
Previously, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard had shared that there would be a reopening when the border states are green. Currently, only two border states are in green: Coahuila and Sonora, while the others, including Baja California, remain in yellow.
