A band of women called "Piranhas" are walking the streets of Venezuela with scissors in their hands looking for women with long straight hair to rob them of their hair. It sounds a little incredible, but once again truth is stranger than fiction.

The victims are surprised and taken by the hair, the "Piranhas" cut their hair quickly and hide the stolen goods in their purse, then they sell it to beauty salons to make wigs and extensions for up to $3,000 bolivares ($ 476 dollars approximately)

The City where there have been more of these assaults reported is in Maracaibo, which is why the chief of police, Alejandro Querales, announced sting operations in the region to catch the thieves, he is also requesting that any victims of these types of robberies come forth and make a statement, given that any information they can provide is useful.

This new type of robbery is quickly becoming a trend and it is estimated that there are 20 reports of it a day.
