As part of Tiuana’s 136th anniversary celebrations, the city made headlines once again by breaking the Guinness World Record for World’s Largest Margarita, mixing a staggering 34,419 liters of the beloved drink.
While the goal of 40,000 liters wasn’t reached, they surpassed the previous record of 32,176 liters held for years by Las Vegas.
Since early in the morning, more than 300 people gathered at the former Caliente Racetrack dog track, where the massive cocktail was prepared. And just a few hours ago, the historic achievement was officially confirmed.
Susana Reyes, an official Guinness World Records adjudicator, explained that after verifying multiple rules such as ensuring the structure resembled a standard-sized margarita, adhering to the original recipe, and confirming the drink was safe for human consumption, Tijuana was awarded this new title.

How Was This Margarita Made?
After over a year of planning, with the support of business leaders, engineers, authorities, local universities, and volunteers, their hard work paid off.
The “magic” happened inside a stainless steel tank standing 7 to 8 meters tall, equipped with stirring, cooling, and pumping systems to maintain the drink’s flavor and quality.
This metal structure holds a mix of around 8,890 liters of tequila, over 4,000 bottles of Flamingo triple sec, fresh lime juice, and Felipe’s Sea Salt, all of which resulted in a delicious margarita drink!
“Beyond the record, this is a symbol of teamwork. Proof that in Tijuana, we can achieve great things when we come together,” Fabiola Partida, director of Tequila Cachanilla and one of the event’s organizers, said.
Partida added that on Saturday, July 12, they will continue filling the tank to reach their original goal of 40,000 liters.
