TIJUANA – The Xolos coach said the offense needed to kick into gear.

At least José Sand and Duvier Riascos heard him, both scoring in Tijuana’s 2-0 win on the road Saturday against Querétaro in Week 7 of the Clausura tournament.

In the first period, both took a shot at the Gallos Blancos’ net but just missed. But they were just getting warmed up.

Six minutes after the start of the second half, Sand sent a pass from Fernando Arce into the net, his fifth goal of the season.

Two plays later, Sand passed to Duvier, who beat Queretero’s defense and scored the second goal.

Xolos coach Antonio Mohamed subbed out Joe Corona in the second half for Mauro Gerk, who received a warm reception from the fans at Estadio La Corregidora. They remembered him as a scoring champion who had once lifted the Gallos Blancos to greatness.

The Xolos will have two games next week in their home region. On Wednesday, they will play a friendly game against Chivas USA at Torero Stadium at USD. Then on Saturday they will square off against the
