TIJUANA.- The city's professional soccer team will hold youth clinics in the San Diego area to train young players and identify recruiting prospects.

The youngsters will get a taste of the training that the Xoloitzcuintles farm system uses to develop players.

The first clinic will be held next week, Sept. 26 to 30, at San Ysidro Middle School, during the mid-term break.

Boys and girls ages 5 to 14 may participate in the "Clínica de Futbol del Club Tijuana." The best players will be invited to compete with teams from the Xolos' academy in Tijuana.

The coaches for these clinics will be from the academy. A team announcement said that some players and coaches from the First Division team will also participate in the clinics, and that the sports director will monitor them to identify recruiting prospects.

Andrea Rodebaugh, a FIFA-trained instructor, will lead the girls' training for the clinics. She was a member of the Mexican women's soccer team who participated in the 1999 World Cup.

As a trainer, she led the Mexican women's U-20 team to World Cup competition in Chile in 2008.
