TIJUANA – Yoko Ono invited the Mexicali siblings known as Vázquez Sounds to be the next representatives of a foundation she supports, The Non-Violence Project, according to a Mexican newspaper.

The international foundation teaches young people how to resolve conflicts without violence and promotes social change.

After seeing them on YouTube.com, Yoko Ono contacted the siblings and asked them to sing "Imagine," which was composed by her partner, John Lennon, the Mexico City-based newspaper Reforma reported.

Ono reportedly said that she "could not conceive of the song being interpreted by anyone else but the three youngsters," Angie, 11, Gustavo, 13 and 15-year-old Abelardo.

The paper said that the siblings said they were honored by the request, particularly because it was for a good cause, but had turned it down on religious grounds.

The newspaper said that Angie was not comfortable with the lyrics and that the siblings had suggested a different song, an idea Ono rejected.
