A couple of days ago, the Center for Musical Arts in Baja California informed that five members of the Youth Orchestra "Do Re Mi", will be traveling to the Vatican to play before Pope Francis in October.
It will be from October 7 until October 14 when Michelle Anette Cisneros Chavarria, on the Oboe; Miguel Angel Garcia Moreon on the Trombone; Pablo Rodarte Rodriguez on Flute; Cesar Israel Cota Ruelas, on Horns and Luis Alejandro Garcia Alvarado on the trumpet will take part of a group of 300 children from around the world in a grand concert sponsored by the "Siman Orchestral" foundation from Miami.
This recognition add itself to a long list of great achievements that the Youth Orchestra Program has made since the project started in 2010, initially created as a strategy to include children in the world of classical music. The diverse chapters of "Do Re Mi" were created in marginalized neighborhoods in Baja California as a way of fighting the growing violence and poberty. "Do Re Mi" has transformed its community as well as opening a new world of possibilities to their young members. The classes being given at the musical program are imparted by various musical experts, members of the Baja California Orchestra.
