Under the direction of Rosarito Mayor María del Rocío Adame Muñoz, the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (ZOFEMAT) has teamed up with the local government to care for the city’s 45 kilometers of coastline. This collaborative work underscores the current administration’s dedication to protecting the environment, boosting tourism, and enhancing the quality of life for Playas de Rosarito’s residents.
Throughout the month of May, thanks to ongoing municipal environmental and administrative programs, a total of 4.2 tons of solid waste were removed from local beaches.

These results were made possible through daily visits to the 19 beaches in the jurisdiction, where ZOFEMAT staff, together with the waste collection company GEN, carried out targeted cleaning efforts.
Key activities included the removal of four truckloads of sargassum from Popotla Beach, deep cleanings in the bar zone, and maintenance of metal structures at Lienzo Charro and La Misión. A report of a stranded seal at Playa El Bebé was also addressed promptly, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The beach sweeper played an important role in busy areas, picking up cigarette butts, plastics, and other small litter that can harm the environment and affect the beauty of the coastline. Cleanup crews also focused on important spots like El Campito, La Joya, and Playa Foxis, among others.
With these actions, the government of Playas de Rosarito and ZOFEMAT reaffirm their commitment to keeping the beaches clean for everyone. Citizens are encouraged to support these efforts by maintaining beaches free of litter and reporting any irregularities to the appropriate personnel.
