The excitement of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to Tijuana. The city has been chosen as a training base camp for one of the national teams participating in the tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

Sports journalist David Faitelson recently mentioned Tijuana among potential host cities for World Cup training camps, alongside Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Toluca, and Pachuca. FIFA has now confirmed that Club Tijuana’s Centro Xoloitzcuintle will serve as the official training site for an international team ahead of the competition.

World-Class Facilities

The Estadio Caliente and Club Tijuana’s training complex meet FIFA’s highest standards, offering elite-level facilities, quality playing fields, and first-rate accommodations. The infrastructure positions Tijuana as a top-tier location for professional preparation at the global level.

Strategic Border Location

Officials highlighted Tijuana’s strategic location and connectivity as key factors in the decision. The city’s Cross Border Xpress (CBX)—the only airport in Mexico with direct access to the United States—makes it easy for teams, media, and visitors to travel across the border. Combined with its strong hotel capacity and established tourism infrastructure, Tijuana is well-prepared to welcome international delegations.

From Tijuana, teams will have quick access to the three Mexican host cities—Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey—as well as several U.S. venues hosting World Cup matches.
