In a fiery social media post on Sunday morning, U.S. President Donald Trump issued a direct ultimatum to Iran, warning that next Tuesday will mark “Power Plant Day and Bridge Day”, singling out these strategic infrastructures as potential military strikes.
“Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in hell!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
The aggressive remarks sharply raised tensions in the already volatile Gulf region and drew an immediate response from Tehran.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) dismissed Trump’s statements as a sign of “moral collapse” and warned that any attack on civilian infrastructure would be met with an “even fiercer” and more extensive retaliation.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also fired back, saying: “Your reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living HELL for every single family, and our whole region is going to burn because you insist on following Netanyahu’s commands. The only real solution is respecting the rights of the Iranian people and ending this dangerous game.”
International Alarm Grows
The international community reacted swiftly. According to The Guardian, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called Trump’s threats “possible war crimes” due to their targeting of civilian sites.
Amnesty International Secretary General Agnès Callamard described the rhetoric as “revolting,” noting that destroying power plants and bridges would disproportionately harm civilians and violate international humanitarian law.
More condemnations from world leaders and human rights groups are expected in the coming hours as tensions continue to escalate.
