Club Tijuana has secured the future of young star Gilberto Mora with a historic three-year contract, which includes a personalized and structured release mechanism. As part of the agreement, Mora will also receive the club’s emblematic No. 10 jersey in recognition of his achievements.
The deal, finalized Tuesday, represents the most significant contract ever awarded to a player in the Xoloitzcuintles’ history. According to an official statement from the club, the release clause was developed jointly to acknowledge both Mora’s potential and his readiness to compete at the highest level of world football.

A Rising Star’s Accomplishments
At just 17 years old, Mora is already the youngest goalscorer in Liga MX history and holds the record for the youngest player to debut for Mexico in an official competition. Following Mexico’s Concacaf Gold Cup victory, he also became the youngest player of any nationality (at 16 years and 265 days) to win an absolute international tournament.
“I am very grateful to Club Tijuana. This club has helped me tremendously to grow as both a player and a person. This contract motivates me even more to keep working hard and improving every day. Right now, my focus is on helping the team and giving everything for Mexico in this World Cup,” Mora said.

Club President Praises Mora’s Character
Jorge Hank Rhon, president of Club Tijuana, described Mora as the best of what the city and team represent: a player of exceptional talent whose character, humility, and ambition make him a magnificent ambassador for the club.
This is a historic agreement but also a reflection of the relationship that has been built with Gilberto and his team.
Hank added that everyone involved shares the same objective, which is to ensure that every decision made today supports the next stage of Mora’s career.
“We understand the responsibility that comes with backing a talent like Gilberto. There has been total alignment when making decisions that benefit both the player and the club as he continues on his path,” he said.
All attention now turns to the FIFA World Cup, where Mora will have the opportunity to represent Mexico and inspire the next generation on football’s biggest stage.
