The new Archery Center of Excellence was officially inaugurated at the Tijuana High-Performance Center (CAR) and is designed to elevate the preparation of both emerging and elite athletes as they set their sights on the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The project represents a collaborative investment of 20 million pesos, backed by the Baja California State Government, the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), World Archery Mexico, and World Archery Americas and will provide athletes with comprehensive medical, technical, and methodological support.
Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda underscored Tijuana’s strategic value as a pre-Olympic hub, citing its proximity to California.
“This is where the athletes who carry Mexico’s colors on the global stage will be forged, refined, and strengthened. From Baja California, we are fueling the Olympic dream of a generation of archers determined to reach the podium,” she said.
The venue itself features a state-of-the-art archery field with newly refurbished synthetic turf and upgraded lighting, alongside a full armory, fitness center, medical clinic, administrative offices, and restroom facilities for raining camps, qualifying competitions, and international team gatherings.
Rommel Pacheco Marrufo, Director General of CONADE, praised the initiative as a concrete realization of federal and state commitments to Baja California’s sporting development. He noted that the center will serve as a high-performance pole with international coaches and a unified training methodology to boost local talent and the regional economy.
Roberto Beltrán Ramonetti, Director of High-Level Competition at INDEBC, added that the complex is the fruit of coordinated efforts since May 2025 among municipal, state, federal, and international sporting bodies. He also acknowledged the vital role of parents in supporting the comprehensive growth of young athletes.
The inauguration ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting, guided tours of the facilities, and a lively exhibition match by state team members, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to fostering athletic excellence as part of its broader vision for shared community well-being.
