The Tijuana City Hall has completed paving and storm drainage rehabilitation works on Avenida 76 in the Centro Urbano 70-76 neighborhood, within the Otay Centenario district. The project, which benefits more than 19,000 people, was personally supervised by Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado.

The mayor emphasized that the intervention responds directly to community demands and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure across the city.

He said that this project will improve mobility for daily commuters and upgrade storm drainage systems to better manage the seasonal rains.

“We will continue to secure the necessary resources to carry out projects that bring tangible benefits to local families,” the mayor stated.

The rehabilitation was made possible through federal funds allocated under Ramo 33, with a total investment of 4,955,668 pesos, according to Virginia Vargas González, Secretary of Territorial and Urban Development (SDTU).

“This project originated from a specific community request and was prioritized to address urgent needs in mobility and public safety for the many residents and workers who transit these streets on a daily basis,” Vargas González explained.

The scope of work included the installation of 1,652 square meters of hydraulic concrete pavement, along with the rehabilitation of 43 linear meters of storm grating and 7 linear meters of storm box culverts.

These improvements are designed to optimize water flow during the rainy season.

Also present during the supervision tour were Councilor Rogelia Arzola Santillán; Secretary of Welfare Wendy Ontiveros González; Otay Centenario Delegate Karla Méndez; and benefited residents.
