With the new school year fast approaching, Tijuana Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado spearheaded the giveaway of 715 school supply packages to students in the San Antonio de los Buenos district, reinforcing City Hall’s commitment to easing financial burdens on families and ensuring that young learners have the resources they need to succeed academically.
During the event, the mayor emphasized that the initiative is designed to prevent economic hardship from stopping academic progress, while also acknowledging the dedication of parents who actively support their children’s education.
“We want to be part of your dreams. This municipal government will continue to stand by you so that you can move forward and have the conditions necessary to continue your studies and personal development,” the mayor said.
He also urged students to remain disciplined and focused, encouraging them to reach their full potential and persist in working toward their goals.
Meanwhile, Municipal Government Secretary Ramón Vázquez Valadez underscored the administration’s focus on education and praised the mayor’s accessibility.
“We have a mayor who is deeply concerned about the well-being of children and youth, but who also remains close to the citizens. He gives us clear direction to maintain these direct lines of communication,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Delegation Coordinator Guadalupe Rubio Cucue said:
“We have visited various districts throughout the week, and we will continue these efforts to bring more school supplies to our communities. These kits are meant to benefit our children and young people so they can keep pursuing their dreams, learning, and preparing for the future.”
As part of the ceremony, the mayor personally handed out five laptop computers and, in a symbolic gesture, six school supply kits. In a special recognition of academic excellence, he also presented a tablet and an additional school package to a local student who secured second place in the state-level Knowledge Olympiad competition.
The event was attended by San Antonio de los Buenos Delegate David Osorio Vergara, along with numerous families from the district who benefited from the program.
