Tijuana’s municipal government says thousands of residents have received assistance through programs focused on food, housing, family development and community services during Ismael Burgueño Ruiz’s administration.

Among the initiatives are neighborhood outreach events held across the city’s nine delegations, along with direct assistance for households and services provided through DIF Tijuana.

Neighborhood Events Bring Services to Local Communities

The municipality reports that it has held 136 “Jornadas del Pueblo” since October 2024, including 44 during the administration’s second year.

The events bring government programs, services and direct assistance to neighborhoods throughout Tijuana.

As part of the food assistance provided through these efforts, the city distributed food supplies to 5,200 people and delivered 18,897 food packages in communities identified as having high levels of social disadvantage.

Housing Assistance Includes Water Tanks and Roofing Materials

The municipal government also reports providing 3,710 direct forms of household assistance aimed at improving housing conditions.

The support included 1,270 water tanks, as well as waterproofing packages and materials for roofing projects.

DIF Tijuana also conducted 349 workshops through its “School for Parents and Values” program, reaching 8,205 people with sessions focused on family well-being.

Crisis Support and Community Centers

Another service highlighted by the municipality is DIF Tijuana’s 075 Crisis Intervention Line, which assisted and referred 4,188 people experiencing difficult situations.

The city has also resumed activities at its Community Development Centers, which offer spaces for sports, cultural, artistic and educational activities, as well as training programs.

According to the municipal government, those centers have benefited 3,238 people.

The administration says these programs are part of its broader effort to provide services and assistance to families across Tijuana’s nine delegations.
