The port of Ensenada and the port of Hueneme become closer in favor of commercial trade

There are opportunities to promote port development and use of new technologies

A flexible attitude, good location and specialized focus have made Hueneme one of the most productive and efficient entries of international trade on the west coast of the US. It is the only commercial deep water port between Los Angeles and San Francisco which is consistently classified among the ten main ports of the US for car and fresh products and boasts the largest cold storage of the west coast.

The port authorities of Hueneme, California, and the Port Authority of Ensenada (API, for its Spanish initials), Baja California, have signed a letter of intention with the goal that both ports maintain relations that favor commercial trade and economic development in Hueneme and Ensenada through a varied program of joint cooperation.

During the ceremony, which took place on October 16th in the Acoustic Shell of the Window to the Sea, Hector Bautista Mejia, General Director of API Ensenada, recognized that there are opportunities to promote port development, take advantage of new technologies and strengthen the institutional relations for better communication and logistics.

On her part, Kristen Decas, CEO of the Hueneme Port, emphasized that topics of mutual interest will be analyzed, such as promotion and increase of international trade, the development of installations that promote said transit, push industrial development, foment inter-port navigation, nautical tourism, sport fishing, as well as the protection of the environment in port activities.

Witnessing the signature of the twinning were Jess Herrera, Port Director of the Board of Harbor Commissioners of the Port of Hueneme and Fernando Gamboa Rosas, General Director of Port Fomentation and Management.
