Mónica Vega Aguirre, Director General of the State Commission of Public Services of Tijuana (CESPT), announced that 12 hydraulic and sanitation infrastructure projects are currently underway in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito. The initiatives, launched as part of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s “Corazones” strategy, are designed to improve living conditions in areas with the greatest need.

Vega Aguirre outlined that the projects fall into three main categories: installation of drinking water networks, introduction of sanitary sewer systems, and construction of new sanitation facilities in order to bridge the service gap in neighborhoods that have long been without these essentials.

“Access to clean water, drainage, and sanitation is about creating shared well-being,” Vega Aguirre stated. “When a community gains these basic services, health outcomes improve, quality of life rises, and families gain new opportunities. That is the driving force behind these efforts, fully aligned with Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda’s Corazones strategy.”

In Tijuana, construction is moving forward in the following neighborhoods: Ampliación Ejido Lázaro Cárdenas Tercera Sección, Maclovio Rojas, Viñedos, Unión Antorchista, Lomas del Valle, Valle Imperial, Altiplano Sección Manantial, and Granjas Familiares Unidas.

Meanwhile, in Playas de Rosarito, projects are being carried out in Colinas del Sol, Ejido Primo Tapia, and Huahuatay. Funding comes from the parastatal’s own budget, as well as from the Wastewater Sanitation Program, the Rights Refund Program, and the Drinking Water, Drainage, and Treatment Program.

The scope of work includes the installation of 3,743 linear meters of potable water piping, 17,494 linear meters of sanitary drainage, and 2,539 linear meters of a sub-collector. In addition, a new treatment plant is being built to bolster the region’s sanitation capacity.

Vega Aguirre highlighted the comprehensive project underway in Colinas del Sol in Rosarito, where 8,982 linear meters of new sanitary sewer lines and a sub-collector are being installed. That effort alone is expected to directly benefit 4,385 families.

Each of these projects, she added, represents a lasting improvement for the communities involved, delivering better health, greater well-being, and a higher quality of life for residents, in keeping with the core principles of the Corazones strategy.
