Baja California will have ‘‘La Ruta de la Cerveza’’

We in Baja already have the capital of wine but that is not enough!

Baja California is considered the capital of wine. And now it wants to be the known as the capital of beer as well. The State Government, through the Secretariat of Tourism (SECTURE), together with Grupo Modelo, presented today, at a press conference held in Mexico City, the progress of the development of the La Ruta de la Cerveza (Beer Route) to consolidate Baja California as the cradle of international craft beer.

This project developed its first stage in 2016 with the creation of the first map with the Ruta Cervecera de Tijuana, including 37 establishments between breweries and tasting rooms.

Moreover, as part of this alliance with Grupo Modelo, an app will be developed and launched at the end of September, in which thousands of people, including local, national and international tourists, will be able to explore the world of beer thus promoting culture and economic activity of Baja California.

The SECTURE indicated that the app will have an e-commerce platform connection so that craft brewers can distribute their products nationwide. It will also have a certification for restaurants and hotels that provide exceptional beer experiences and will include multimedia content dedicated to teaching the consumer topics such as styles, pairings and ingredients.

It was also said that in the 2018 edition of the Copa Cerveza Mx, Baja California was the State with the most medals obtained: 41 out of 127 medals. The Cervecería Fauna was awarded as the Best Big Craft Brewery of Mexico.

There are other projects that will be promoted in the near future, such as the creation of a Beer Museum.
