A nutriologist from Tijuana made a healthier version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte

October is the month of Halloween as well as the beginning of the pumpkin season. Thanks to this, a new drink has been well accepted: The Pumpkin Spice Latte. It is a coffee that will be temptation for those who are still taking care of what they consume.

Melisa Téllez, Nutriologist of NutriendoT decided to create a healthy version of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, since the original version has a lot of sugar, thing that is bad for your health.

“What it contains is not very good for your health. In a venti-sized drink you consume the same amount of calories than a normal meal,” says Téllez.

If you enjoy the taste, the nutritionist offers a healthier version with natural ingredients and lower sugar content. The ingredients for this recipe are:

1 cup skim milk
15 grams of pumpkin puree
4 drops of vanilla
¾ cup of black coffee
1 packet of stevia

For the pumpkin spice, add ⅛ tsp of cinnamon, a pinch of ground nutmeg and a pinch of ginger (all powdered).

Process:

1.- Add the milk and the pumpkin puree in a small pot. Heat over medium-low heat, constantly mixing, until the mixture begins to boil.
2.- Add the stevia, cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Continue mixing until it becomes foamy.
3.- Add the coffee in a cup and pour the milk mixture on top.
4.- Enjoy!
