Americans with American plates that transit in Tijuana, must have some documentation to circulate.

The Secretary of Economy, Mario Escobedo Carignan, informed that an American who lives in Baja California and transits with an American vehicle, must not only have his Mexican driver's license.

To avoid problems with Mexican transit agents, foreigners with an American car in Tijuana or another part of the state, must present their American driver's license, to prove their US address, if they have dual citizenship.

Failure to submit this documentation must regularize your car according to the rules of the Mexican State

“We must raise awareness that if you bring American vehicles without residing in the United States it is illegal, independent if the person is American, because it is believed to be so, but if you live in Mexico, you cannot bring your vehicle like that, you must subject it to the Mexican regulations and the state ”, said the secretary Carignan.

However, more and more cars are currently circulating in Tijuana and 40% of them are irregular. By 2020 there is no regularization scheme.
