Mexicali, Ensenada y Tijuana are the counties with most active cases in Baja California

Baja California ends the week with 563 active coronavirus cases

During the COVID-19 cases update, the Head of the Department of Health, Alonso Perez Rico, mentioned that Baja California has registered 563 active cases as of Friday, July 24, of which the majority are found in Mexicali, with 243 cases, followed by Ensenada with 161 and Tijuana in third place with 82 of these cases.

Meanwhile, the positive cases registered by the state are 12 thousand 649, and are distributed around the region as follows: Mexicali 6 thousand 628, Tijuana 3 thousand 701, Ensenada one thousand 369, Tecate 297, San Quintín 290, San Felipe 204 and Rosarito 160.

Of this number of cases, people between the ages of 25 and 59 total more than a thousand cases in each of these age groups, Perez Rico said.

In addition, the Health Secretary noted that "70% of confirmed patients have diabetes, hypertension," and other types of illnesses.

On the other hand, there are already 2 thousand 480 Baja Californian natives who have passed away because of this virus, most of them from Mexicali, where one thousand 170 deaths have been registered.

Tijuana reports one thousand and 49 deceases, Ensenada 164, Tecate 72, Rosarito 14, San Quintin 10 and San Felipe 1.

To date, Baja California registers 6 thousand and 73 patients recovered from COVID-19, of which more than half are Mexicali residents.

Authorities asked all counties to maintain sanitary measures, especially the top three (Mexicali, Ensenada and Tijuana), which have been most affected by this sanitary crisis.
