As is widely known, restrictions on border crossings between Mexico and the United States remain in place until September 21, 2020 as a precautionary measure against the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, just as several businesses and public places are reopening with the goal of reviving the economy and based on their number of cases of coronavirus, schools on both sides of the border are also beginning to do so or at least considering it.

In light of this, through its official media, the Consulate General of Mexico in San Diego reported that "parents who accompany their children to school from one side of the border to the other are considered essential trips", information also confirmed by San Diego's Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

So, for example, if you live in Tijuana but your child goes to school in San Diego, and you are the one who is taking your child from one side of this border to the other, you will have no problem doing so.

However, the Consulate noted that "secondary screening is random and can always occur", so it invites people who need to make these types of trips to contact its facilities if there is a problem: 619-843-6399.

Have you already started or will you soon start with this type of travel from one side of the border to the other?
