The Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, informed this Thursday morning, November 12, about the update of COVID-19 cases that are registered in Baja California.

To date, the state has reported 42 new cases of coronavirus: 21 in Mexicali, five in Tijuana, three in Ensenada and two in San Felipe. With these numbers, the entity has accumulated 23 thousand 380 positive cases, of which 10 thousand 560 belong to the state capital.

Unfortunately, the region presented 20 new deaths in the last 24 hours: 17 in Tijuana and three in Ensenada, according to the Secretary of Health, who pointed out that the total of these in Baja California amounted to 4 thousand and one, of which the majority ( one thousand 715) were Mexicali residents.

At the same time, 119 Baja Californians have been intubated due to this disease: 62 in the Ministry of Health and 57 in the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS).

At this point, Dr. Pérez Rico stopped to explain that currently Baja California has a hospital occupancy rate of 36.17% , but once this rate exceeds 70%, hospital capacity must be expanded, that is, "auxiliary hospital units".

In the case of the Effective Reproduction Rate, it's at 0.9, which means that a person can only infect another person and not more. This indicator is key when defining the color of the epidemiological traffic light in the entity. However, the battle is not over yet, as the active cases registered so far are 467.
