As a good Baja California native it is known that something that characterizes the state capital is its Chinese food, because in spite of being a dish of the Asian country, there is no doubt that Mexicali has that something that makes it unique.

That is why last Thursday, November 12, as part of China Day in this municipality, the mayor of Mexicali, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced the beginning of the construction of the first Mexicali Chinese Food Museum.

This project, besides being part of the regeneration work of Centro Histórico, has the goal of promoting culture and tourism in the municipality with something that identifies them.

Thus, this museum will join other sites of interest such as the alley of 'La Chinesca', tours of the basements and the Chinese pagoda, within the perimeter where the most traditional Chinese cafes and restaurants in the city are located.

On his part, the General Consul of China in Tijuana, Mr. Yu Bo, sent this message to the "cachanillas" on the occasion of the first anniversary of China Day in Mexicali:

With information from La Jornada.
