Cell phone containing fentanyl pills found in Tijuana

The discovery was made with the help of a canine pair belonging to the National Guard

The National Guard (GN) was conducting a routine inspection of a delivery company's warehouse when the discovery was made in the city of Tijuana, Baja California.

The animal reported the discovery to his superiors and once they were sure, the military opened the package and observed a cell phone inside, which upon opening contained Fentanyl tablets in the place where the cell phone battery should be.

The package was identified, as previously mentioned, by a canine pair and approximately 200 units of the narcotic were found hidden in the false electronic device.

Fentanyl is a synthetic drug that, according to scientific studies, is characterized by being an analgesic and anesthetic with greater power than morphine, so an extra dose could be very harmful to the health of an individual or even cause death.

Authorities informed that the package came from Zapopan, Jalisco and that it was handed over to the Attorney General's Office so they could start the corresponding investigations.
