Today Tijuana surpasses Mexicali in new and active COVID-19 cases

In the last four days the active COVID-19 cases in Baja California have been increasing, going from 868 to 972 this Saturday, according to the presentation of the Health Secretary Alonso Pérez Rico in his daily report.

Unlike previous days, this time "Mexicali is the only large municipality in our state that is decreasing in active cases," he said, with Tijuana taking first place on this list, with 349 active cases, while the state capital registered 336 of the total.

In addition, the border city added 205 new cases out of the 355 recently registered, thus having an accumulated 11 thousand 396 positive cases out of the 33 thousand 892 reported by the entity.

For its part, Mexicali reported 46 new cases, adding up to 14 thousand and 48 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

According to Pérez Rico, in 24 hours in Tijuana, 23 of 36 people died from COVID-19 in the state, registering 2 thousand 391 deaths out of the 5 thousand 511 that occurred in Baja California so far during the pandemic.

Meanwhile there were 12 new deaths in Mexicali, making a total of 2 thousand 210 due to COVID-19.
